Exactly what I needed and then some, October 27, 2014

Finally. A way to have my cat wear ID who refuses to wear tags and who has been able to remove all previous collars. This one is good quality, the lettering is large, clear and looks like it will last a long time, the safety snap works just right, breaking away if needed but otherwise staying on very well, especially for a cat with a history of removing collars within a few minutes. He has been wearing it now a few days and hasn’t been trying to take it off at all! It’s a huge relief because I just moved and really needed him to be identifiable if he ended up outdoors lost. The buckle does overlap the lettering, but it happened to perfectly fit my cat with the buckle placed just between the segments of the phone number so it was all completely visible. He is 6 months old so I will have to make it larger later on, but I think it will be easy for someone who finds him to read the numbers with minimal adjustment to see around the buckle.
As a bonus, since I cannot use the free included metal tag (of nice quality too!) with my collar-removing cat, I filled out the information for my other cat who wears his tags proudly, and ta-da, I took care of both cats’ new ID needs at once.
I got “Jolly Rancher” colored thread on a blue background. Not as glaring as the neon green would have been with a nice subtle variation within the lettering. I have a feeling it has gone underrated.

I ordered this for our CAT Marvin. Some people said it was flimsy but I think the nylon material and plastic buckle for a normal size male cat is more than durable. The embroidered part was BIG and CLEAR. The phone number part runs into the adjustable loop of the collar but you can still read the numbers clearly which I really like. Marvin is used to wearing it and does not try to get it off but some said there’s did break. If your cat is outside and active the buckle is plastic and releases fairly easily. Marvin does not try to get his off. I think he likes how we tell him he looks handsome in his new collar. I don’t think it will last forever but I am overall pleased for the price. Quick delivery too!

It is a great cat collar, I highly recommend it. Since I have an indoor/outdoor cat, I wanted to make it clear that my cat has an owner, and provide contact info if there is a problem. However, generally cats really hate collars, but primarily just if they are heavy or have a tag jangling from it. This is the perfect solution since the collar is lightweight and eliminates the need for a tag. I removed the bell, of course. The collar also comes with a customized tag, but I’m not sure why (I didn’t use it). The collar doesn’t seem to bother my cat in the least and I like that it will come undone if it gets caught (but it is secure enough that I feel confident it won’t come off on it’s own).
My only complaint would be that the phone number gets cut off by the adjustment buckle which means you have to take the collar off and re-adjust it to read the number. This is at least partly because the embroidered text doesn’t start close enough to the female buckle (perhaps this is due to some limitation of the embroidery machine). You may want to consider putting the cat name after the phone number to avoid this, if you care. For reference, my cat is quite large, but fit, and I used a 5-letter name and 10-digit phone number, and the last digit just barely goes into the adjustment buckle when adjusted for my cat’s neck (plenty loose).

Comes off TOO easily. The cat takes it off to play with it when she gets bored with her toys.
This cat collar seemed like a good idea. If the cat gets stuck on something, it won’t keep them trapped. Unfortunately, it comes off WAY too easy. No matter how much I tighten it so she can’t get her mouth around it, my cat manages to grab a hold of it and rip it off any time she feels like playing with it. She doesn’t mind it. She doesn’t take it off because she hates it. She simply gets bored with her toys and has found a new form of entertainment. So basically, as “my cat got lost” protection, it is absolutely worthless. = (

This is NOT the product shown. I have purchased at least 5 collars recently from this company and they have always had the safety-release where they buckle. This one does NOT!!! It is stretchy, but no break-away clasp as shown and stated in product description. It has a plastic bow on it with a rhinestone in the middle & a metal buckle. The other collars I bought had the same photo as this one and it shows the break-away collar. I am very upset and I just ordered other collars from this company before this one came, because up until now I had been very happy with Costal. This one is NOT safe!!!!!!!

This review is from: Coastal Pet Products CCP7001BLL Nylon Safe Cat Adjustable Breakaway Collar with Bells, Blue Lagoon (Misc.)
The breakaway clasp was a bit too tight for the kittens I bought them for, so I bent the clasp to make it more breakable. I did a weight test and the modified clasps work now for my kittens. We’ve had them for a few weeks now and they are holding up well. I have seen the kittens race by table corners and the collars have broken away without any snagging or danger to the kittens at all, but I did need to make this modification. I’m sure these would work straight away with a heavier cat.
