   I have been using this dry food recipe for five years on five different cats and they are in excellent health.
   First and foremost, they all love it. That is an important point because the best of food will not be of much use if the cats will not eat it. In addition, as a former veterinary scientist, I study the composition, not the advertising prose. In my opinion, the lamb is the best because of the nigher meat to fat ratio. [the chicken version is mostly offal with an unhealthy fat content, not to mention other ingredients].
   My cats are mostly indoor dwellers and this lamb recipe provides both leaner meat and dietary fibers. I occasionally mix a little “Indoor cat” dry food to boost up the fiber content and all is well.
   I love to see lean and happy lively cats with a shiny coat and no health problem whatsoever, that tells me that I have found the right balanced food, that and three empty bowls – of course.

   My young neutered male cat suffered a sudden and complete urinary blockage two years ago from struvite crystal formation, and spent almost a week in the hospital with a catheter inserted and frequent bladder flushing. Painful and life-threatening for the cat, and expensive and heart-breaking for me. He survived, and the vet put him on a prescription diet, but it was costly, hard to get, and worst of all the cat hated it. I tried the Pro Plan (with my vet’s approval) and it’s great! The cat loves it, and we have had no reoccurences of trouble (knock wood)! I also use the Pro Plan canned food for urinary tract health in conjunction with the dry food. Cat is healthy and happy. Highly recommended.

   It seems to work just as well as the Hill Prescription Diet brand for Urinary tract at a reduced cost.
