Pretty pleased! No more cat waste in the garbage bin., November 6, 2015
    By
Dara C (Brighton, MA United States) –

I was fostering two kittens and started out with a name-brand clay-litter, but after a week of 4-7 cleanings a day and my house still smelling of damp, poopy litter, I needed a new solution. I wanted a flushable to avoid bags of poo sitting in my garbage bin, clumping even with runny poo, no strong litter smell, a litter that wouldn’t track all over the house, a reasonable price, and something the cats would use. Mixed reviews made me nervous, but I went for sWheat scoop with a coupon at my local pet store, and was pretty happy with it! I didn’t have to use up the whole back to get a solid few inches of coverage in the litter box, yay. That was one major plus. The litter doesn’t have a strong smell at all, when dry or wet. It doesn’t do a darn thing to cover the smell of a fresh poo, I’m not sure any litter is great at that, but it does a decent job with older waste and urine… I was pleased that I wasn’t coming home to cat-poop smell every day any more. I did mix in some baking soda, and noticed that that was present in a lot of the really solid clumps, and as we went along, the clumping action was not as good as the soda got used up. I mixed some of the sWheat scoop into the previous clay litter to help the cats transition to it, and when I switched out the clay litter completely they didn’t object. One thing, though I have a mat in front of the box, they still tracked the sWheat scoop everywhere. It’s just extremely lightweight, I can’t imagine how they’d avoid it. I put a scratching pad near their box and they seem to use that to clear the litter from their paws. Overall, I’d mix this stuff with some lightly-scented heavier-weight stuff for maximum clumping/non-tracking action. But the flushable aspect it awesome!

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
I was looking for an environmentally friendly litter other than “World’s Best” when I found this, and was very happy with it. Very little dust – even when it starts to “break down” over time. And virtually NO smell, which is the best part about this litter in my view. I can’t stand those perfumed/”cover-up” chemical smells that are part of so many clumping litters. And (for my nose at least) the World’s Best takes on a kind of sour odor that lingers even after the boxes are scooped out, and grows stronger until you empty it and replace it with fresh. I was emptying and refilling the litter boxes much more often than I liked – not to mention more often than I could afford at the price.

Bottom line – if you’re looking for a flushable, environmentally friendly litter with minimum dust and no smell, this is it. Like all lightweight litters, however, this one gets tracked very easily. So don’t expect to be able to put aside the broom & dustpan.

    The Price ISN’T Right, January 3, 2016

This review is from: sWheat Scoop Multi Cat Litter, 25 lb (Misc.)
Our family has used Swheat Scoop for over 7 years and love the product, but as many others have noted the price has gone up dramatically as of late. Less than 6 months ago, we placed an order for multiple bags at nineteen dollars each – the current price for the same bag is almost forty dollars, thats a price hike of more than fifty percent!!! I understand raising prices to cover increasing costs, but a 50+% rate hike seems quite exorbitant. Swheat Scoop also ended their rewards program – buy 12 packages of a particular sized bag and get a coupon for a free bag – with assurances that a new rewards program was in the works (still waiting for that) and it makes the decision to switch cat litter brands pretty much guaranteed.
