This review is from: Halo, Spot’s Stew for Cats, Succulent Salmon, 5-1/2-Ounce, 12-Can (Misc.)
My beloved fur ball, Georgie Louise, was diagnosed with stage four kidney disease last summer. She refused to eat any of the prescription cat food with low protein levels, and I was getting desperate until I found the cans of Spot’s Stew at Petco. When I saw that there was only a 6% protein level, I decided to try it. The minute I opened the can of the salmon variety of cat food, I could see it was of good quality. For one thing, it actually smelled good. But best of all Georgie wolfed it down so fast I was worried she would throw up. It’s also very moist, which is helpful for kidney patients.
She now eats this every day very happily. Her favorites are the salmon, turkey, and seafood combo. It is a little expensive, but less than the prescription varieties, and the price on Amazon saves me some money.
[THE VEGETABLES: Georgie will eat them because I mash them with a spoon before serving her. Yes, this takes about a minute, but she eats the whole can, and nothing goes to waste. The vegetable add fluid to her system, which is very helpful for kitties with kidney issues.]
Best of all, the disease has shown no progression since last summer, and the food–along with the probiotic Azodyl–is what I think has made all the difference.
UPDATE 10/6: Georgie’s latest numbers were the same as they were in early July.
Spot ‘s Stew is good stuff.

Since my elderly cat has started eating a wet food diet, she’s become extremely finicky. She used to eat anything I’d put in front of her, until about a year ago when she decided nothing was good enough. I’d been through every brand in the store…she doesn’t like fish, plain chicken or lamb so my choices were limited. When I found this, I gave it a try since she primarily likes beef. The ingredients were excellent and I read great reviews from Vets about it online. She has been scarfing this food down from day 1 and still loves it. There are peas and carrots in it and the consistency of it is very mushy. She likes it that way, so she doesn’t have to chew much. I also noticed it doesn’t dry out if there’s any left in her bowl for several hours, like other brands have. I definitely plan to continue giving this to her. I’ve been ordering on Amazon since it’s been difficult to find it in my local pet stores lately.

my cat is going to be morbidly obese. she loves this food so much it’s almost dangerous to her health and my wallet. it looks and smells delicious. i would feel fine eating it myself. that’s how wholesome and REAL it is. we get the dry food too- my cat is KING OF THE CASTLE. sigh..
