This review is from: Pet Naturals of Vermont L-Lysine Fun-Shaped Chews for Cats 60 pieces (3.74 oz.) (Misc.)
Good sized “treat,” has a soft cake-like consistency, easily broken into smaller pieces if necessary, and is highly concentrated (250 mg lysine per chew). Pet Naturals is a sister company of Vetri-Science whose products are mainly sold thru veterinaries. Pet Naturals is available thru retail stores, and is usually less expensive. Each company’s cat chews are usually the same size and shape, and often the same ingredients (compare their websites), although Pet Naturals is much cheaper. In this case, the Pet Naturals version is slightly larger because it has twice the concentration: 250 mg per chew(60 chew package) vs. 125 mg per chew (120 chew package Vetri-science). My cat seems to prefer the Pet Naturals, and it requires less eating to medicate her. In contrast, another company’s lysine product, Enisyl-F, is 125 mg per 6 crunchy treats.
If your cat has eye and/or respiratory problems caused by herpes, lysine is worth trying but isnt a guaranteed fix. The Pet Naturals product is one of the easier ways to administer it, unless your cat can tolerate the taste of lysine powder mixed into their wet food. 500 mg is considered a max daily dose. Herpes seems to feed on amino acid Arginine. Amino acid Lysine can mitigate the effects by competing with Arginine so it less available in the blood stream (or so the theory goes). Works in the test tube, but not always in the body.

Good product. All my cats like them and most of the cats at the shelter like them as well. Ingredients list seems ok and each chew contains 250 mg of L-lysine, which is very, very good. 60 soft chews per package, chicken liver flavor. Excellent way to get sufficient lysine in your cats, especially good for cats with health issues.
Interestingly, these are made by a different branch of the same company which makes the Vetri-Lysine Plus chews, which I do NOT recommend (Vetri-Lysine Plus chews are 120 per package, but it takes 2 chews to get 250mg, one package costs considerably more, and chews contain rosemary oil used as a preservative – there is some question as to how safe rosemary oil is for cats to ingest – just do a google search on cats and plant essential oils and you will see what I mean. My cats do like these, but most cats in the shelter will not eat them and I don’t feel I can recommend them because of the rosemary oil. Note that the Pet Naturals do NOT contain rosemary oil).
My cats also love the Enisyl-F Lysine Treats made by Vetroquinal – very small crunchie, cookie-like treats, 6 equals 250mg of lysine, but there are a huge number of them in the bag (6.35 oz). The crunchy texture of the Enisyl-F and the chewy texture of the Pet Naturals make a nice contrast and my cats love them, so I feed both and recommend both.

After years of hearing the vet say there is nothing he could do for my cat’s dripping eyes – red drops that stained wood! – I decided to look myself and found these treats. They are incredible. After only 4 days the dripping has decreased dramatically. Thank you so much Pet Naturals of Vermont.
**Update** I am pleased to say that it’s been an entire month using this phenomenal product and for the last week I’ve not had to clean my cat’s eyes even once. Proud purchaser for life!
