My latest stray has the most sensitive stomach I’ve ever seen. In fact, I’m sure she would have starved to death had she been on the streets much longer. She will sometimes go days without eating a full meal, just picking at her food and I’ve learned what that means-vomiting and diarrhea can’t be far behind.
My vet says she has “garbage gut” caused by her living off of garbage while she was on the streets. She’s been treated with prescription probiotics and antibiotics which helped but as soon as she went off of the drugs the problem can back. Rather than keep her on antibiotics long term, I decided to try Proviable DC (actually my vet recommended it to me).
At first I didn’t see any difference so I tried increasing the dose from once a day to twice a day. This seemed to do the trick and the vomiting has stopped completely while the diarrhea has significantly improved.
Bottom line, I would get my pet checked out by a vet first because there could be something seriously wrong. But if your vet recommends probiotics or just gives you a diagnosis of sensitive stomach, then definately give this product a try.

This is a very effective probiotic that has really helped rid my dog of occasional bowel upsets. She hasn’t experienced upset bowels since the vet put her on a once daily regimen. The capsules are easy to pull apart so that the powder can be sprinkled on food. Amazon’s price is great–my vet charges twice as much for the same box of capsules.
That said, I would suggest not purchasing this from Amazon during the spring and summer months. According to the Proviable packaging, the capsules are not to be exposed to temperatures higher than 77 degrees. Amazon treats all shipments equally and does not insulate or mark packages containing perishable items. The USPS delivered my first shipment to an unshaded metal package locker, where it sat for several hours, cooking and killing the live bacteria. After I contacted Amazon and explained what had happened, they apologized and promptly sent a replacement. However, for reasons unknown, the replacement was shipped the exact same way the original had been shipped: in an uninsulated, unmarked box, via USPS, who once again delivered it to the same unshaded metal package locker, where it sat for several hours. I thought it pointless to ask Amazon for a second replacement, expecting a repeat of the two prior shipping mistakes.
Bottom line: Great supplement, convenient and easy to handle, but unless you live where temperatures normally don’t register above the mid 70s during the warmer months, buy it locally, or stock up for the year from Amazon during the cooler months.

My cat had been recently diagnosed with IBD (initially the Vet thought it might be cancer but thank God it wasn’t!) and had started her on a 4 week course of antibiotics to clear up what he felt was an underlying intestinal infection. As a pediatrician I know when my patients are on antibiotics for any length of time I always prescribe a probiotic as well to help maintain the normal intestinal flora. So I assumed it would be a good idea to do the same with my cat. Since starting the Proviable capsules my cat’s appetite returned, her vomiting completely stopped (even hairballs!) and she is back to her old self. I am sure the antibiotics helped, but I only saw a complete turn around in her health after starting the Proviable. I am continuing to keep her on 1 capsule a day to maintain good gut flora. A great product!!!

Effective Probiotic (but beware Amazon’s shipping practices during warmer months),
