I’ll spare you the details since my kitty was enduring much the same “no-pee” “red-pee” issues as the rest in these reviews. Just wanted to provide a quick tip.
While no one actually mentions this on any of the websites, it is WORLDS easier to dose your kitties if you dissolve the required dosage in a bit of water first instead of trying to get them to keep the little pellets in their mouths. Plus, you don’t have to feed them all the time (every 30 minutes? come on people… when your animals are in pain they aren’t typically interested in eating – well not all of them anyway. Plus you run the risk of counterproductivity if you are feeding them food that has a high pH and you are contributing to potential weight gain issues).
Use about 1 tsp of water, mix in your pinch of UIT-Free (double the water and double the pinch for larger animals or use whatever dose is necessary), stir and allow to fully dissolve, suck up in syringe/dropper and dose kitty/puppy without hassle!!
Hope it helps!

A few months ago our Maine Coon started what we like to call the “litter box dance” where she would go in and out every few minutes, strain to urinate, and sometimes yowl in pain. When we noticed a bit of blood in her urine, we immediately took her to the vet who confirmed it was in fact a UTI. After multiple vet visits, two rounds of antibiotics, a breakout in hives, and $800 in bills she was UTI free. Unfortunately, the litter box dance started again a month later and this time I did NOT want to expose her to the additional stress of more tests and powerful antibiotics, so I went out on a limb and ordered UTI Free from PetAlive after reading the positive reviews. I admit I was skeptical but I researched the ingredients and they seem to be genuine homeopathic remedies. And they WORK. I keep our cat on a maintenance dose (once or twice per day) and increase (up to 6 per day) if she ever shows signs of the litter box dance. After just a few doses she is calmer, more playful, and is urinating more easily. In a few days, the UTI is gone and she’s back to her normal cat self. I sprinkle the dose on a teaspoon of her favorite wet food and she doesn’t even seem to notice it. UTI Free has improved the quality of our cat’s life tremendously and I highly recommend it.

Went through one round of nasty antibiotics for my cat Sebastian’s nasty UTI (complete with crystal blockages) and several overnight stays at the vet’s office. The antibiotics made him sick to his stomach, and when the ten days were up he was still very lethargic and still occasionally missing the box. The next step was either surgery (and you know how that is, we couldn’t afford it), or another round of antibiotics (which I knew was making his stomach turn).
Sebastian is only four years old, and I didn’t want to make that one decision that every pet-owner dreads, but I could’t let him go on suffering either. Out of desperation, and fear of loosing my beloved kitty, I began searching for another option. I stumbled upon this product and decided to give it a try. It was a $30 vs. $3500 situation. I clicked the order button.
It’s been a week now and my chatty, tail-swaying cat is back! He’s using his litter box and never misses mealtime. I hate to sound dramatic and say “This product saved my kitty’s life!”…but when it all boils down, that’s about what happened. =)
As always, please, PLEASE go the the vet first to rule out anything very serious before trying this (Sebastian was already experiencing diminished kidney function by the time I got him to the vet). Once you’ve ruled out any serious medical condition, I highly recommend this product!!

This review is from: Nature’s Variety Instinct Raw Boost Indoor Health Grain-Free Chicken Meal Formula Dry Cat Food, 5.1 lb. Bag (Misc.)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product(What’s this?)
My cat is a bit overweight and this is a weight control formula intended for indoor cats that has real meat as the first several ingredients. There is a good portion of raw chunks compared to the kibble. Unlike some other grain-free dry foods, my cat liked this one immediately. As soon as I opened the bag he was interested and once I gave him a serving he ate almost all of it. I waited a while before posting this review to make sure he would keep eating it and he did.
I have a domestic long hair so he ingests more hair cleaning himself than my other cats did. There is still the occasional hairball but no intestinal distress that I can tell. As for the litter box being less smelly, this particular cat has never had that problem so I can’t comment on that.
It is expensive but given the high-quality ingredients and taking into account that there is virtually no moisture means that you are paying for real food and not fillers and water. (My old wet food has a 65% moisture content for example.)

This review is from: Nature’s Variety Instinct Raw Boost Indoor Health Grain-Free Chicken Meal Formula Dry Cat Food, 5.1 lb. Bag (Misc.)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product(What’s this?)
All my cats (2 older cats and 1 younger one) go for this food, both the regular dry kibble and the “raw boost” chunks. There is an ample amount of the raw boost pieces in the bag — easily a good one-third or more of the bag consists of the raw boost pieces.
I have not seen any signs of digestive upset in any of the cats from eating this food (except for the kitty who gobbles and occasionally throws up, but that’s because of the gobbling and not because of the food). That’s a big plus since other brands of grain-free foods I’ve tried have not agreed with some of the cats. While the manufacturer claims the litter box will be less stinky when they are on this food, I can’t really tell a difference. Cleaning the pans is still a smelly task!
While this review is for the chicken version, I’ve also tried the rabbit version. My cats didn’t seem to like that as much which was a good thing since it’s more expensive, plus I don’t care for how the food smells. The chicken version is much nicer to my nose.
The food is on the pricey side, but all the grain-free options usually are. This is priced about mid-range compared to the other grain free foods I’ve bought. I consider it a good value for good ingredients and as long as my cats continue to like it, I’ll continue to feed it to them.

With every brand I always compare the label from one bag to the next because formulas change over time. I had to switch off my last brand because they changed the formula to something that gave many cats intestinal issues. So far Nature’s Variety has remained a trusted brand with good ingredients.
Hopefully this will be available on Subscribe & Save soon.
UPDATE: First, my cats go through and pick out all the treats from this stuff, often leaving the kibble. Second, their #2 has started smelling AWFUL. I’m not sure it’s this though. It’s intermittent, and there’s a bunch of things it could be (including eating too many of the treats, or even eating people food that my kids drop on the floor!). I’m still buying this food on a regular basis though: the ingredients are good enough that I am giving it the benefit of the doubt.
