We have 2 cats, both neutered males, one is 4 and the other is 5. Both have had good health, in general, but the youngster came down with a urinary infection. It seems he has a tendency to form crystals in his urinary tract. After a few hundred dollars of diddling around and keeping him under observation for a few days, the doctor said he needed to be maintained on Hill’s Prescription Diet C/D for Feline Bladder Health. I guess this diet causes the cat to drink and urinate more, thus avoiding the crystals. Well, it seemed to work but after a while I ran out of this very expensive cat food so I went back to giving him the standard food we feed the other cat, Well, his condition returned so back we went to the Hill’s C/D food. Evidently, it works. It’s a pain to feed two cats two different foods, but as long as the little sweetie remains healthy, we’ll do it. By the way, the price listed here is a bargain over what I paid at the vet’s office.

We have 2 male cats with urinary problems and the vet recommended this c/d diet for them. We’ve been using it for a few months and the cats are doing fine so it appears to help.
The surprising thing is that the price of the food on the amazon website is very high and large bag of dry c/d diet (17.6 lbs) isn’t even offered on the entire website. The largest bag is the 8.5 lb bag and the price is high ($41). This size bag costs $33.49 at […]. I haven’t compared the shipping costs and sales tax situation, but this is a big price differential. Also, the 17.6 lb bag is available locally at petsmart for $55. Twice as much food for just a few dollars more than the amazon 8.5 lb bag price.
Also also, take a look at the hills website […] for a $7 coupon on your next purchase. The only creepy thing about this is the requirement to download a couponprinter.exe file in order to “print the barcode” needed for the coupon. Funny, but even airlines tickets can be printed without any special files and the TSA security must be better than the security on coupons.com (or is it?).
Also also also, a prescription needed for cat food? morphine, oxycontin, even medical marijuana…OK a prescription. But cat food? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

to The Peterson’s and all those who have had or are having the same crystal formation problem with their cats………..DON’T GO OFF OF CD. I learned the hard way and the night before leaving on a trip, my male started bleeding profusely. We rushed him to emergency only to find the same recurring problem. He was hospitalized for a week and is doing very well ….our mistake was putting him back on a good food-Buffalo Blue-forgetting that the reason he was on CD was for this problem. we have 6 cats, 5 of them are males. Our solution to feeding different foods is easy…I use CD for all of them including the female. Vet says no problem. My cat’s levels are now normal. this product works!
