Three Cats Scored it an Average of 4 Stars. As for Myself, I Rate it Five Stars., January 13, 2015

    I have three cats.

One I rescued from a life as a feral cat in Maadi, a suburb of Cairo, Egypt. Her name is Squeaky due to a weak voice as a kitten. She is now 13 years old. She can be a finicky, prissy, cat, nowadays, but she loves my companion. If she were a journalist she’d be the resident curmudgeon.

Rocky is orange and white. He appeared at our doorstep on a cold, windy, rainy Saturday. Immediately took him to the vet, learned he was six weeks old, and carefully, fearing for his safety, introduced him to Buddy, our Yorkie. Buddy became his best friend, protecting him from Squeaky. He seldom eats anything not actually prepared for cats. He isn’t real picky with canned or dry, but can be picky about table scraps.

Then, a year ago, another kitten came for rescue. We named this black and white cat Candy. She is the Cat World’s Mikey, she will eat anything.

So, how did the test go?

Squeaky jumped in glee, but, then after a sniff, turned up her nose and pranced to another room.

Rocky immediately went to the dish and devoured his ration, even though other cat food was available. He scores this new food a five star delight.

Candy, as usual, gobbled up a few ounces with eager delight. Five stars.

So, overall, my cats judged the offering four stars.

This Natural Balance Whole Body Health Dry Kitten Formula could not have come at a better time. Tammy, my girlfriend, volunteered to be a foster parent for cats for the local SPCA. She feeds and cares for malnourished cats until they are eligible for adoption. Recently, she took in two kittens that a pastor had found beneath the shed of his church. The kittens were scrawny. Tammy has been feeding them the Natural Balance Whole Body Health Dry Kitten Formula and they seem to like it as well as the other brands she has used. I was surprised, considering the numerous types of meat that were in it: chicken, duck, and salmon.

It has been my experience that cats usually like one or two flavors mixed together, not as many as three. Tammy and I allowed her two grown cats, Jessie and Riley, to sample the food and they liked it. However, I learned through research that kitten food should not be given to grown cats because it will make them fat. Jessie and Riley are adorable, full-time house cats; they are fat enough. Natural Balance claims their kitten food is gluten free, easy to digest, and good for the immune system. I am just thankful the two stray kittens are eating and enjoying it and gaining weight. Hopefully, we can soon return them to the SPCA for adoption.

Quality food that the kitties love, January 6, 2015

Very good food, the ingredients sound good and my kitties seem to love this too so I give it 5 stars for content and palatability. It is expensive for a small 2lb bag and it won’t last long with a hungry kitty to feed.
