We have several oriental shorthair cats. To say the least: They are very particular about what they will eat. And one cat in particular, we were at our wits end–and starting to worry–when we gave this cat food a try. Oh, they’ll shred up and chew the toilet paper, and I have to hide the cherry tomatoes because they love to roll them around for a while before they delight in squirting the juice out….but I think that is more about playing than eating. Then, of course, they’ll eat the Science Diet dog food, but I think they do that for the attention that particular cry “no, no!” elicits…

We’ve gone through a lot of brands of cat food looking for something they will consistently eat. We’ve tried other varieties of Royal Canin, Eukanuba, the top Purina varieties, even (in desperation) Friskies and Meow Mix. Because our cats are built slender and very muscular, I never felt comfortable serving cat food with a lot of fillers, but we wanted them to eat something, so that’s why we tried grocery store brands.

There are other “Selective” choices in this line of Royal Canin, but the “Aromatic Attraction” has worked very well for the adult cats for almost two years now. And although we try to keep the kittens out of it, they like it too.

UPDATE: April 2014: We have since had very good luck with some newer cat foods, too: The ones with no grain and mostly fish. There is a grain-free, mostly salmon put out by Hill’s Science Diet. (It is very high-priced.) There is also a new one we are trying right now that they seem to like a lot: Nutrience, Grain-Free, Ocean Fish. Both are available here on Amazon.

My cat loves this food and I have purchased many other brands before this one. She clears her plate which she didn’t do with other more expensive brands. I recommend buying the Royal Canin Discovery Pack that has three different flavors. You put out the three flavors and watch over a few days to see which flavor your cat prefers. Each cat craves different recipes/aromas ( according to Royal Canin) so this gives your cat the chance to pick his/her food. I found that very helpful and I throw out less cat food now. Give it a try! Cats rule!!!

I give this cat food a high rating because my cat really likes it. The smell attracts him and he eats it up quick. I will continue to buy this brand.
