   Around 6 months ago I switched my 8 and 10 year old cats from Iams Indoor Weight and Hairball food to Blue Buffalo Mature food, since they are both considered to be seniors at this age. I also fed my first cat this food, up until her kidneys lost their function and she went on the prescription food. I think this food is one of the reasons she almost made it to age 18.

   This food has human-grade ingredients, such as deboned chicken, potatoes, carrots, cranberries and blueberries. It is a natural, holistic food. Even contains green tea which is full of anti-oxidants. The manufacturer also includes LifeSource Bits in the food, kind of like little nuggets of vitamins, which are added AFTER the food is processed so as not to destroy the vitamins during the heating process.

   All my cats love this food. When switching over, I always allow a minimum of two weeks to complete, this way their tummies don’t get upset from a quick switchover from one food to another. When I’m combining the two foods, they always pick this one out first and leave the old behind to eat later. So it must taste good to them!

   I researched all the food companies before deciding on this one. Yes, Blue Buffalo did have a couple of recalls in the past 3 years ever since the melamine from China fiasco. (the Blue Buffalo recalls were not part of that original recall, these were voluntary due to some bad rice protein). Still makes me a little leery of any food I give them, but I don’t have the time or the inclination to cook their meals from scratch, and they would probably go downhill health-wise. So I consider this Blue Buffalo food the next best thing for them.

   Six months ago my oldest cat was having hair loss problems; after many vet trips and a lot of money spent, the vet had no idea why she was losing her fur. I have come to the conclusion recently it could have been corn or soy related, as most commercial cat foods have corn or soy, and sometimes both, in the ingredients. The Blue Buffalo has neither, and my cat’s hair loss has stopped totally.

   Both my cats that eat this food are acting playful as kittens again, and their last wellness visits at the vet were perfect. I hope feeding them this food can partially be attributed to their being healthy.

   I have a 12 year old cat who is not a very picky eater. He does not have a sensitive stomach either. I feed him dry food which he can nibble on as he desires throughout the day and evening, and one 3oz can of food every day (half in the morning, half in the evening). I decided to try this product as a replacement to a big brand dry cat food available in all supermarkets. Well, my cat really likes this. I mixed it with his previous dry cat food, and he tried picking out the pieces of this cat food from the mix as best as he could. So although this food is a little more expensive, he prefers it over the other brand, and I believe that the ingredients in this food are healthier for him. My cat is my buddy, so if he is happier with this, I’ll provide this to him.

   MY CATS LOVE THIS. I HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR A GOOD QUALITY CAT FOOD WITH LOW MAGNESIUM BECAUSE ONE OF MY CATS HAD A FEW CRYSTALS IN HIS URINE ONCE WHEN HE HAD AN INFECTION.
