Recently we had a friend move in with us while he’s having his house built. He’s unfortunately quite allergic to cats. He’s forced to hole up in his room often where Phil is not allowed, just to avoid the running nose and itchy eyes. I feel terrible about that so I thought by removing the fur and dander at its source before it has a chance to float all over the house might help a bit.
When the brush arrived, I was surprised by its good quality, weight, and seeming durability. I should not be shocked that a product backed by a 10 year warranty is made to last. It comes in 2 pieces that easily click together and then don’t budge or wiggle. It also has a very thick cover to place over the comb when not in use.
So, brushing the cat. Well, Phil is a shelter cat rescued as an adult, and while he is very social and friendly, he doesn’t *love* physical attention. He’s not a lap cat that likes marathon petting sessions. Some pets, chin scratching, and winding through and rubbing against legs are more his speed. I wasn’t sure how he’d react to combing.
I approached him while he was relaxing on a sheet of Amazon packing paper (which he loves) and let him smell it. He wasn’t offended by the smell which is a good start. When I started combing him he seemed perplexed, but he settled in and let me comb him for a couple minutes before getting up and retiring to his box fort my sons built him out of Amazon boxes and hot glue (which he also loves). After a bit he came out and my son started brushing him. He allowed him to brush him for a few minutes before taking his leave. My son left the brush laying on the floor, comb side up and it later caught Phils attention and he came up and laid on top of it. This is something he tends to do with things that are his, like his toys. So while I can’t say if he loves it, he at least acknowledges that it’s his. He then smelled it really intently, gave it a few test bites, then started rubbing his face and chin against the comb. He seemed to enjoy being able to comb his own face and chin.
We brush him a lot, as much as he’ll tolerate, and his limit is five minutes or less. Regardless of the short amount of time, the amount of downy loose hair that comes off him is incredible. A palmful each time. I feel like if I had all the time in the world to comb him more and more fur would just keep coming.
While Phil might not be sure about this comb, I am. His fur looks amazing. It’s soft, sleek, and shiny. And I like knowing when he grooms himself he’s not going to be choking on all that loose fur. Hopefully the repeated brushings will help alleviate my housemate’s allergy symptoms.

|Just pull along your dogs hair,

This works like a charm. I was alarmed at first when the instructions mentioned a blade but it’s not really like that. It’s just right to get the tangled and matted hair, if you haven’t washed or combed your dogs hair enough. This is just perfect for pulling along in one direction and it combs and pulls off the loose and crazy hair that your dog has all over his/her body. Guaranteed for 10 years also. I’m going to be putting that to the test every day.
