At last, a toy my cat loves playing with. I purchased this for under $20 at Walmart. The toy is easy to put together. It comes with two arms — one has just a little stick and the other has a feather. I use the toy on carpet and wondered if the arm would get stuck on the carpet, but it doesn’t. The feather arm does have a tendency to disappear under the plastic mat, but it reappears again to the enjoyment of my cat. It’s just the way the feathers swing around the toy. The stick arm is always visible. My cat was on this toy the second I turned it on. Initially, he ran around the perimeter of the toy and then discovered he could pounce on the toy and wait for the arm to come around to stop it. Yes, he holds the arm and the toy will shut off to save the motor. But I’m always with my kitty when he’s playing with it and I will just move the toy away from him to get the arm moving again. His previous favorite toy was the end of a wand and I’d have to turn in circles to play with him. This toy pretty much does the same thing, but it doesn’t get dizzy. I know there are a lot of variations of this toy out there to purchase. I’ve read a lot of reviews. Some say the motor is noisy. This one is not. A lot of people complain about the battery consumption. This toy takes 3 AAA batteries and has four speeds. My kitty prefers the fastest speed. I’m sure if you continue to let the cat play with it for hours, the batteries die fast. My cat has his session with the toy, and then he’ll leave the room and I turn it off. We do about three play sessions with it a day. My kitty has dislodged the arm a couple of times and I just put it back on for him. I don’t know how this toy will hold up over time because my cat is a heavy pouncer, but he loves this toy, and I’d pay any price for a toy my cat will actually play with and enjoy.

I purchased this at Walmart for $19.99. The cats love this toy. However I only gave it a 4 rating because it stops running if the moving arm attachment is held for 15 to 20 seconds. This happens frequently. I have 4 cats so I will have to get at least one more if not 2. It really needs a remote control. If you have a small kitten this would probably be awesome. But go to Walmart!!
An update on this toy. My youngest boy loves this toy and will come running from anywhere in the house when I turn it on. I did purchase a second toy and placed them about 8 feet apart. He runs back and forth between them and I have eliminated the problem of him stopping the toy all the time. Well worth the money.
