   I just received this toy today, along with the “ground prey” version. My cat began trying to get at the feathers before it was even out of the packaging, so this was the one we tried first. Now, in the 3 years I’ve had my cat I’ve been through many, many “feathers on a stick” toys. And as much as I love Jackson Galaxy, I have to admit that I initially thought $15 was a bit pricy. However, this is easily the best cat toy of this type I have used.
   First of all, both the pole and the string retract when not in use. My biggest issue with this type of toy in the past has been storage between play sessions; inevitably the string would always end up a tangled mess. Making it retractable is such a simple solution! The grip is also much more comfortable to hold onto for extended periods than other toys of this type. And that is a good thing, because if your cat is anything like mine, she will want to chase this thing around for quite awhile.
   I am very impressed with the Mojo Maker: Air Prey toy. I look forward to trying out the ground prey version as well as the other products in this line.

   I’ve had DaBird pull apart rode before this, so review is based on experience with these 2 wands.

   Pro:
   – price is great
   – wand AND string both compacts, so makes for easy storage
   – wand itself feels pretty sturdy (string not so much)
   – feather hook is universal (exactly like the DaBird wand), so can switch to other brand of feathers, which I did right away.

   Con:
   – heavier than DaBird due to all the compacting parts, which makes movements are harder to control and have to be careful not to swing too quickly or might hurt cat. While good for storage, I wish the string part wasn’t compact because that’s mostly why it feels heavy & awkward when wand is extended (it’s tip-heavy). With the DaBird, I just warp the string around the wand, which isn’t that much more difficult than this.
   – feather part too bulky and heavy, doesn’t twirl and spin like DaBird feathers. I switched it out for a DaBird refill feather and it works much better!
   – string is shorter than DaBird, so easier to accidentally smack cat in face with the string compact device when playing (my cats go crazy on these feather wands).
   – string is noticeably thinner than DaBird, so might affect durability in the long run.

   This wand, while has many bells & whistles, is more awkward to play with than my old DaBird wand. I would still choose DaBird over this. Maybe if they got rid of the cumbersome heavy string compacting part, it would make a much better wand. I love Jackson Galaxy, but can’t recommend this product over DaBird :/

   12/17/14 UPDATE: Retracting metal part of the wand broke after 1.5 month of normal use! Not that surprising since the string retracting part is so heavy. DEFINITELY down grading this from 3 to 1 star!

   One yellow feather came off the day it arrived. We weren’t playing rough at all. Two days later the button pulls string back in broke. I believe this item is defective. I don’t want to pay shipping fee to exchange this item. I hope I can get in touch with the seller….
