Cat Spraying No More!
Works well on a Japanese Spitz,
I did still pay money for this so I am really trying to write a complete and honest review.
I used this on my Japanese spitz and it works well. Compared to the furminator, it gets less fur out per brushing and it doesn’t seem to dig in quite as deep down into the fur, but it seems a lot gentler for the dog which is a good thing. So on that point, you may have to do a few more brushings compared to the furminator but I noticed this generally keeps the majority of the fur on the brush for easy cleanup. With the furminator, a lot of fur comes out and falls to the ground as I’m brushing so I have to vacuum the floor again afterwards. However, using this slicker brush the fur stays on the brush and the button to retract the pins makes cleanup easy. The only thing I’m worried about is the long term use of the button that retracts and extends the pins. It sort of feels like it could break in the future after clicking it thousands of times, but so far it’s been pretty sturdy. I’ll update this review if this thing ever breaks on me too quickly.

|good functionality / bad smell,
Pros:
The pet slicker brush does a good job of removing shedding bunny fur on our pet rabbit.
The push-button operation is helpful at cleaning fur out of the brush.
None of the bristles are missing or falling out during use.
Con:
The black rubber bristle base has a very strong petroleum-based-product smell. The smell was obvious even from several feet away. I tried airing the brush out in the sun for a week and the smell is still there, but not as noticeable until I’m within about one foot from the brush. I find the smell nauseating. I will air it out longer in the hope that the smell will eventually be undetectable.
