I received a cheap “Made in China” knockoff product. There is no Andis branding on the comb or packaging. The steel comb has a couple of bent teeth and looks like it will break in a few uses. I will be returning this product asap and would hope Amazon would actually sell the branded product they are advertising and not a cheap knockoff dupe.

Sometimes You Get More Than You Expected For A Price, April 28, 2013

I purchased a REALLY expensive ‘buttercomb’ which I (with help from the rest of the family) kept misplacing. Annoyed that I couldn’t find the comb when I had the time, and the dog was willing to be groomed, I decided to try a less expensive product–figuring that the more that were hanging around the house, the more likely I would be able to find one of them when I needed it. (The Chris Christensen combs are 3x the price of this one.)

What I found is that I like this Andis comb better than the more expensive one. Yes, it may be 2ish inches smaller, and have a squared (rather than round) back, but who cares. My moyen-sized poodle is not 10 inches wide and 7.5 inches gives my hand plenty of room to grab the comb and use it. And the teeth flow smoothly through his coat.

Roger Pippin, my 2 yo pup, is 15 inches tall and about 28 pounds, and his coat is very curly and prone to matting. The latter is really a problem since he’s constantly running through the woods with the kids and his adopted sister, Charlene the JRT mix, and between the burs, thorns, and water features, he can get to be a mess.

Sometimes neither comb is good enough, and scissors are needed, but in every case, the Andis comb seems to work just as well as the very expensive comb. And as a mom, I can’t recommend that you spend tons of money, without first trying the less expensive alternative on your dog’s coat.

    Definitely recommend.

I have a long haired Shih Tzu and I really love this comb. It works perfectly for quick comb outs and to remove debri and mats. It leaves his hair very nice and fluffy. It also does not get tangled in his hair like some of the smaller tooth combs. the blunt ends are easy on his skin. I would definately buy this comb again.
